John and Seantel went to Tucson Arizona for the Gem show. They were looking for items to buy to put in the Jewelry store and resell. They were not making jewelry at this time. At the Tucson show, they saw that fairly large bells were being sold. The bells were less than wholesome. John was intrigued by the bells he saw. When they came home from the show, John and Seantel were inspired to start making small bells. When people would hear the bells ring they would be reminded of the good things in life!
“The Bell of Christ” was the first bell to be made, it has three crosses of Calvary and the clapper is a nail. The bell became a local hit in their store. They started making more bells and writing heartfelt stories for each bell. With the bells increasing in sells, John and Seantel sold their retail store and focused on making more bells full time. Over 20+ years John and Seantel have designed hundreds of different bells including custom bells for Universities, Clubs, Sororities and stores.
Each Bell is proudly hand crafted in the studio in Round Rock TX. The original is carved in wax, cast in metal then make a mold for each piece. After the molds are made for each bell, it still takes four days to make. We use a special Sterling Silver that is resistant to tarnishing. John writes the story cards for each bell, sometimes it takes him longer to write the story than the time it takes to create the bell.
John and Seantel have found a niche market and they Love what they do.
One of John’s favorite things to do is give tours of the studio to show how the bells are made. The studio is open Monday – Thursday but John and Seantel are on the road a lot doing art shows.
